Special to The Sports Lounge

As I bounced and splashed over the wet cobblestones in the golf buggy that led to the nondescript, black, gymnasium-style doors marking the entrance to TSL in Danang, I had no idea what awaited me on the other side. From the outside, it looks almost intentionally understated—an industrial façade tucked inside the Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa. But the moment the doors swung open, the space revealed itself like a secret: warm lighting, refined textures, with upbeat rhythms setting the mood for a premium indoor sports lounge unlike anything I’ve seen in Vietnam. Two smiling receptionists greeted me as I entered, and the rainy gloom outside vanished immediately.
TSL—short for The Sports Lounge—aims to redefine what indoor recreation means in a resort city known mainly for beaches, golf, and family travel. Inside, I found a full-sized professional squash court, a cutting-edge Impact Vision golf simulator, and a plush lounge that blends private-club calm with a modern sporting edge—an unexpected gem for visitors seeking rainy day activities in Danang.
What struck me most, though, was the energy. A group of four guys were rotating between the squash court and the ping-pong table in the reception area. Music was pulsating, sweat dripping, rackets swinging, fist pumps and friendly grunts echoing across the space. I loved the show and immediately wanted in. TSL offers beginner lessons with an in-house squash coach, I was told, along with racket and non-marking shoe rentals—perfect for newcomers or hotel guests wanting to try squash in Danang.

Just across the reception area, the golf simulator lounge shifted the mood entirely—dim, quiet, and undeniably upscale. It had the polished comfort of an elegant man cave, the kind of space equally suited for a solo practice session, an unexpected date night, or even—judging by the pewter beer bucket on the side table—an indoor outing with the boys. The giant screen glowed with crisp, hyper-realistic graphics that made even a beginner feel transported onto a championship fairway.
This was where I met the owner, and as I sank into one of the comfortable rocking chairs for our chat, it struck me how intentionally the room was designed—not just for golfers, but for anyone seeking a refined indoor escape so close and yet so far from the world outside.
In an interview, founder Jai Mehta shared the broader vision behind TSL:
“Our goal was to build a space that feels upscale yet welcoming—somewhere hotel guests and local residents can learn, mingle, and play while being protected from the elements,” he said. “At TSL, it’s not only about the sport. It’s about providing the experience of being in a beautiful, comfortable, temperature-controlled environment while you play.”
And they have. The combination of expert coaching, luxury interiors, and all-weather accessibility makes TSL a valuable addition for travelers seeking more than sun loungers and spa days—or wet loungers and puddles on a day like today. For Hyatt Regency guests, families, locals, and anyone searching for unique indoor activities in Danang, TSL stands out as one of the city’s most thoughtfully designed new spaces.
